The political, economic and social environment in Latin America and the Caribbean at the beginning of the third decade of the twenty first century has generated significant attention as the region faces the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, rising cost of living, economic downturn, social crises and increasing transnational organized crime and security challenges, among other significant regional issues.
The academic community is charged with the responsibility to assess, review and critically analyze the contemporary issues and through evidence-based research, provide recommendations to policy makers and provide a wide audience, including students and civil society with a critical understanding of these issues. This publication, therefore, has as its major objective, the presentation of a major source of information and analysis to its readers.
This aim of this book is also to provide original research of the highest quality which will strengthen the body of knowledge on contemporary regional issues.
