CCLCS Celebrates 60 Years of Educating the Working Class
Official Theme: Sixty Years of Educating the Working Class – The Next Sixty Begins Tonight
In October 2026, the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies (CCLCS) proudly celebrates its 60th Anniversary, marking six decades of advancing education, empowering the working class, and championing social justice in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
Established in 1966, CCLCS has built a legacy rooted in labour education, co-operative development, and the pursuit of a more equitable society. Over the past 60 years, the College has remained committed to equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to contribute meaningfully to their workplaces, communities, and national development.
From its foundational beginnings to its continued growth as an institution of higher learning, CCLCS has played an important role in expanding educational opportunities for working people, strengthening the labour movement, and developing professionals across various sectors.
The anniversary celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the College’s rich history, recognise the contributions of those who helped shape its journey, and celebrate the generations of students, graduates, staff, partners, and stakeholders who continue to advance its mission.
The celebration will feature Professor Anthony Bogues as the featured speaker, bringing an important perspective to this milestone occasion as the College reflects on its enduring legacy and the future of working-class education, social justice, and regional development.
As CCLCS honours its past and celebrates its present achievements, the institution also looks ahead to the opportunities and responsibilities of the next 60 years. Guided by its founding principles and strengthened by its evolving vision, the College remains dedicated to creating pathways for learning, leadership, and meaningful social change.
Sixty years of impact. Six decades of progress. A legacy that continues.
As CCLCS celebrates this Diamond Jubilee, one chapter comes to a close and another begins — carrying forward the commitment to educating the working class and shaping a more just and sustainable future for generations to come.
