The event, attended by The Honourable Foster Cummings, M.P., Minister of Youth Development and National Service, (MYDNS), alongside Dr. Andre Vincent Henry, Director of CCLCS, and Professor Brian Copeland, ORTT and Chairman of the Board of CCLCS, marked a significant milestone in the College’s commitment to address the educational challenges faced by secondary school students in Trinidad and Tobago.
The initiative, known as “Community-based Action for Resilience, Empowerment and Success (CARES),” was developed in collaboration with MYDNS to address the issue of students’ difficulty in earning a full certificate after the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams, in particular, those who hail from vulnerable communities. Each year, many of these students, due to various circumstances, are unable to pursue a second chance at these exams, which in turn limits their opportunities for academic and personal development.
Through the CARES initiative, the College aims to provide that second chance for these students by giving them access to resources and support to improve their chances for academic and personal success. The launch not only celebrated the young adults who seized the opportunity afforded to them, but also brought together various stakeholders who are committed to making a difference in the lives of the youth across Trinidad and Tobago. Through this collaboration between MYDNS and CCLCS, more young adults have a chance at achieving a brighter future.
