Akins Vidale is a Lecturer in the Labour Studies Department at the Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies. He obtained both a Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of the West Indies. He is also the Coordinator of the Elma François Institute for Research and Debate at the College.
Mr Vidale has spent most of his adult life as both a community and political activist. He is a former President of the Trinidad Youth Council (2007-2009) and a former executive member of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions and NGOs and last held the post of General Secretary in 2012.
Mr Vidale has represented Trinidad and Tobago’s civil society at several forums as both a delegate and presenter throughout the Latin American and Caribbean region, including Suriname, Curacao, Brazil, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Cuba, Venezuela and several Caribbean countries. He continues to write on social issues and assist civil society networks in whichever way possible.
