Course Description
This one-year part-time Certificate programme is to develop participants’ knowledge in the field of Occupational Safety and Health, to provide an awareness of the legal ramifications with respect to Safety and Health issues and to provide practical guidance on the formulation of clearly defined safety policies and procedures.

This Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health programme will consist of 18 credits over two semesters, with 3 courses allocated per semester.

Programme Purpose
The graduate of this programme will be able to understand and explain the:
- Moral, legal and financial reasons for promoting good standards of health and safety within and organisation
- Importance of setting proper policy in health and safety
- Concept of health and safety culture and its various components
- Identification, evaluation and control of hazards
- Hazards and risks from the use of work equipment
- Effects of exposure to chemical, biological and physical hazards on health
- Basic measures to be taken to minimise the risk
- Main mechanical and non-mechanical hazards or machinery
Admissions Eligibility
Entry into this programme is for persons who have either of the following:
- Completed the CCLCS 10 Saturday Introductory course in Occupational Safety and Health
- 3 CXC or GCE O-Level passes (Mathematics and English)
- At least 3 years’ work experience in the field of Occupational Safety and Health
Tuition Fees
Full payment of fees is required when registering for classes. Cipriani College is now a participant in GATE – Government’s Assistance for Tuition Expenses. The tuition fees listed below apply only to non-nationals. Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are eligible for free tertiary education.
