CLRC-SCAP
The Student Counselling Assistance Program for ALL registered
Cipriani College students and their immediate family
The Student Counselling Assistance Program (SCAP) is a program sponsored by Cipriani College and provided by Caribbean Life Resources Centre (CLRC). CLRC-SCAP is where students can gain personal and academic development skills. All currently enrolled Cipriani College students and their immediate family are eligible for CLRC-SCAP's counselling services. CLRC-SCAP's counselling services are absolutely free for all students and their immediate family, and there is no limit on the number of sessions.
What’s CLRC-SCAP Got To Do With Me?
CLRC-SCAP's services include individual, couples, and group counselling; career guidance, personal development, consultation and referral services, and outreach programs. Students come to counselling for a wide variety of concerns, including:
ü managing relationships,
ü handling family problems,
ü coping with stress,
ü feelings of depression,
ü dealing with fears,
ü handling a crisis,
ü improving communication,
ü learning to be assertive,
ü study skills,
ü time management,
ü self-esteem issues,
ü decision-making, and
ü dealing with alcohol and/or drug concerns.
Shhhh…. It’s Confidential.
All conversations, files, records, and other communication you have with your counsellor are strictly confidential. Information will be released only with your written permission. There are, however, just a few exceptional situations that are not covered by confidentiality. These are spelled out in detail in CLRC-SCAP's Confidentiality Form. Students can ask any CLRC-SCAP counsellor about these exceptions or can ask to see the Confidentiality Form at the CLRC-SCAP office.
Are You Crazy?!
Some people make the assumption that meeting with a counsellor means you must be ‘crazy’ – nothing could be further from the truth! Most people who come to counseling do not have any mental health disorders. People who are perfectly normal and simply want to develop themselves, investigate career options, improve their relationships, learn better studying skills, cope with a crisis, deal with grief or fears, manage their anger, or learn better communication skills come to counselling.
Just Pencil Me In!
To make an appointment students simply call or come in to the Counsellor’s Office. Both Trinidad CLRC-SCAP offices are open Monday to Friday. The Tobago office, located on the Cipriani campus, is open on Thursdays from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. See the Table below for more details.
