The Library is open to all registered students, academic and support staff of the College. Visiting research workers and members of other colleges and universities may be granted reading and reference privileges at the discretion of the Deputy Director Academic Affairs or Librarian in charge. Borrowing by external readers is not permitted.
OPENING HOURS
Library services are available to all students during the following periods except during emergencies:
- During the Semester Mondays to Fridays:8:30 a.m.to 8:00 p.m.Saturdays:9:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m
- During the Vacation/Breaks Mondays to Fridays:8:30 a.m.to 4:00 p.m
- Vacation/Breaks include the following: Semester Breaks and Easter Break July/August Vacation
CIRCULATION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS GENERAL POLICY
Books and other library materials may be removed from the Library only when they have been legitimately charged out at the Circulation Desk, and the due date stamped by the member of staff on duty. A reader is responsible for any book or other item borrowed in his/her name. This responsibility ends only when the loan is officially cancelled. Disregarding this rule will be considered a major and deliberate offence. Readers’ identification cards are not transferable. It is a major offence to lend or borrow cards. Persons disobeying this rule may have their library privileges withdrawn. Certain publications may on no account be removed from the library. These include reference books, items in special collections such as closed reserve collection and works of special value. All material loaned will be subject to recall by the Librarian at any time.
COLLECTION
The Cipriani College of Labour & Co-operative Studies (CCLCS) library provides resources and services that reflect and support the mission of the college. As an integral part of the educational experience, the library’s collections, services and facilities are aimed at fulfilling the informational needs of all stakeholders.
Over 6000 items cover topics on Labour Studies, Industrial Relations, Industrial Court Judgments, Caribbean Studies, Co-operative Studies, Human Resource Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Security Administration, and Environmental Management. 1100 plus research papers are available for library use only.
Reserve Collection
Books which appear on students’ reading lists are placed on reserve. In order to ensure an equitable circulation of these materials, loan periods and conditions of use are specified. All material in the Reserve Collection may be borrowed for use in the library ONLY.
General Collection
The collection consists of Periodicals and Books for loan which cover areas such as psychology, sociology, economics, marketing, health & safety, industrial relations and more.
West Indian Collection
This collection covers a range of topics pertaining to the Caribbean: caribbean history, politics, and socio-cultural issues.
GENERAL COLLECTION
The collection consists of periodicals and books for loan which cover areas such as psychology, sociology, economics, marketing, health & safety, industrial relations and more. Magazines and journals are available for library use only. Students are responsible for the purchase of essential texts.
REFERENCE
Information is sourced in response to a direct query.
RESEARCH
Students are guided in finding resources and information relevant to their needs.
RENEWALS
Books can be renewed once either in person or by telephone provided they are not overdue or placed on hold for another user.
SERVICES COMPUTING & INTERNET SERVICES
Users are allowed one hour sessions for internet research / typing. Users must sign in at the circulation counter and present their student ID before they are assigned to a computer.
PHOTOCOPYING SERVICES
Self service photocopying is available at the Library. Users are required to purchase photocopy cards which are available in the following denomination:
$19.00- 30 copies
$25.00- 50 copies
$40.00- 100 copies
Cards can be revalued upon request.
Photocopying is subject to the Copyright laws of Trinidad and Tobago Act 1997, Section 9 (1).
OVERDUES
The Librarian is permitted to levy a fine of $1.00 per day per book upon all readers who fail to return library material within the prescribed period. This fine applies to regular loans and books recalled to satisfy other borrower's requests which are not returned by the specified time.
AUDIO-VISUAL UNIT
The Cipriani Audio-Visual Unit is a unit which gives audio visual support primarily to lecturers. This unit is equipped with overhead projectors, multi-media projectors, VCR’s, Televisions and other teaching aids. It also supports other activities carried out by the College particularly in its Public Relations and Marketing thrust. Request for assistance in this area must be made to the Instructor’s Aide on a specific form available in the Admissions Office.

Renewals
Books may be renewed only once for an extension of fourteen (14) days. Renewals may also be done via telephone; this would not apply if books incur fines.
Overdues
A fine of one dollar ($1.00) per day is levied upon all readers who fail to return library material by the due date.
Lost/Stolen Items
Lost/Stolen items must be reported to the Circulation Desk immediately to prevent fines accruing. If items are not found, users are required to cover the cost of the item.
