UWI FRANCHISE PROGRAMME
On Friday 31st March, 2006, an historic Franchise Agreement was signed between the University of the West Indies and the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies, in the area of Social Sciences. This agreement will see Cipriani College offering the first year of UWI’s BSc Degree in the Social Sciences.
This Franchise Agreement follows an earlier Articulation Agreement, which outlines UWI’s recognition of Cipriani’s Associate Degrees in the areas of Labour Studies, Co-operative Studies and Human Resource Management.
Additionally, the Articulation agreement allows for several exemptions for courses developed and delivered by Cirpiani College.
In the first year, the College will offer Level I of the Bachelor Degree in such areas as:
¨ Accounting
¨ Government
¨ Management Studies
¨ Sociology
Students completing Level 1 will be automatically transferred to the University of the West Indies – St. Augustine or any other Campus of choice to pursue and complete Levels II and III.
The College has commenced the programme in September of 2007, and to this end has invited applications from prospective students, who will be required to meet the same matriculation requirements as set out by the University for the Bachelor’s Degree, as well as Regulations governing the requirements for the award of the Degree, as set out by the Faculty of Social Sciences. The cost of these programmes will fall within Government’s GATE (Government Assistance Tertiary Education) policy – that is tuition-free.
