MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS
This concept, fundamentally ask of contemporary organisations, whether they are designed for profit or not or to understand the importance of satisfying customer needs within a competitive arena. Over the last decade, marketing has come to be accepted as the management process considered as the 'engine' that drives strategic thinking which eventually leads to the enforcement tactical success.
Public Relations, on the other hand, complements the aggressive nature of marketing as it focuses on the needs of all stakeholders, selflessly driven to ensure the protection and enhancement of the image of the organisation and its various interests. Public Relations is a promotional subset of the wider marketing principle and once employed honestly and effectively, will ensure that marketing satisfies customers' needs while creating economic survival. Therefore, the disciplines of marketing and public relations are linked together, providing natural intellectual blends that continue to excite the modern business scholar.
The Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies introduced Marketing and Public Relations in the academic year 1997/1998 in an effort to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to improve their skills in the areas of relationship building, customer satisfaction and delivery value.
The Marheting programme is offered at the Certificate level only and includes some core courses that give the student a comprehensive understanding of the marketing concept. The courses include Principles of Marketing, Marketing Practice, Marketing Research and Forecasting, Marketing Planning and Control, Sales Techniques and Fundamentals of Communication. These courses are designed within a two semester academic year of teaching and learning. Each course consists of 45 contact hours and carries three credits each for a programme total of 18credits. A graduate of this certificate programme is expected to be able to function as a valuable member of any marketing department as a Marketing Assistant or Co-ordinator.
The Public Relations programme has two levels, the Certificate and the Diploma. The Certificate is designed to ensure that a solid foundation is built, whilst at the Diploma level the student will be exposed to the exciting world that joins theory with practice. They are both one year programmes comprising of six courses each, and 45 contact hours per course, carrying three credits each resulting in 18 credits.
The Certificate programme is the foundation, building a pracitioner who understands the role of public relations within institutions whether they be corporate or social sectors, through the principles of public relations. The ability to write within a demanding public relations world is the primary course; Writing for Public Relation. The role of the media, the impact of public relations in a globalised environment and an Introduction to Events Co-ordination, all prepare the graduate to function in any government or private organisation's public relations department.
CERTIFICATE IN PUBLIC RELATIONS
Although open to all who may have an interest in Public Relations and have the necessary qualifications, this Certificate in Public Relations is also aimed at those who have completed the College’s Introduction to Public Relations course, Public Relations Officers, Teachers, Police Officers, Prison Officers and other personnel in public relations departments.
This programme will examine the principles and theories of Public Relations, the contemporary methods and process in Public Relations and will demonstrate the usefulness of Public Relations as an effective tool for growth and development of organisations. There are six courses in this Certificate programme.

CERTIFICATE IN MARKETING
This course aims at providing students with an understanding of marketing concepts, operations, practice and analytical skills. Once these areas are successfully completed, students should be able to recognize and confront marketing problems and seek solutions to deal with these problems.
The purpose of this programme is:
- To indicate a knowledge of the Management of the Marketing function in diverse marketing situations.
- To provide an understanding of the role and value of Marketing in today’s business environment.
- To develop the ability to analyze, plan, implement and control a marketing programme.
- To enable participants to apply the knowledge gained in marketing principles, communication and theoperating environment to the marketing task.

TUITION FEES
Full payment of fees is required when registering for classes. Cipriani College is now a participant in GATE - Government’s Assistance for Tuition Expenses. The tuition fees listed below apply only to non-nationals. Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are eligible for free tertiary education. The Board of Governors reserves the right to change tuition and fee charges when necessary without notice. Fees and tuition are not transferable.
